Composite coating is the finishing of panels made from composites, such as fibre cement, WPC, HPL, sandwich panels and fibre-reinforced plastics. These surfaces differ from wood in porosity and surface energy, so they often need sanding or a primer before the topcoat adheres. The coating system, frequently UV-curing or water-based, is chosen for the substrate and its final use.
