Impregnation saturates a porous material such as wood, felt, paper or fibreboard with a liquid that penetrates into it rather than forming a film on top. Examples are oil for flooring, fire retardants and resins for décor papers. On panels the liquid is applied by roller, worked in by brushes and the excess is removed.
