In roller coating a metering roller and an application roller form a film of coating, which is transferred to a flat panel passing beneath. The coating weight is set by the roller gap, the pressure on the panel and the roller speeds. Reverse roller coating, where the application roller turns against the feed direction, applies heavier and smoother layers such as fillers.
