UV drying, more accurately UV curing, hardens coatings by a photochemical reaction instead of evaporation. The coated workpiece passes under UV lamps (mercury vapour or LED), and the required dose depends on the coating, layer thickness and pigmentation. Lamp height and power are adjusted to the product, and angled lamps can cure coated edges.
