In wood finishing, infrared is used to dry stains, lacquers and glue lines on wood products, not to dry the timber itself, which is done in kilns. IR heats the coated surface quickly, but the temperature must be limited to avoid resin bleeding, cracks or blisters. It is usually combined with circulating air in a drying tunnel.
